- NV SPONSORS - One of the things which inspires NVequipment is the chance to get involved in amazing adventures alongside passionate and experienced sailors.
Lionel Regnier and
Jean-Luc Van Den Heede
The Golden Globe Race is to be held in 2018, and Lionel Regnier (One and All) and Jean-Luc Van Den Heede (Matmut) are already preparing their respective yachts, equipped with NV protections, for this traditional round-the-world competition.
- What is -
THE GOLDEN GLOBE RACE?
It’s a round-the-world yacht race, but of a rather special kind, since this one takes place in traditional style!
No electronics, no computers, no automatic pilot, and… no GPS. Compass and sextant are all that this race allows.
25 monohull yachts, including those of Lionel Regnier and Jean-Luc Van Den Heede, will start the race, ready to rise to the challenge!
- SHARED -NVequipment has chosen to form a partnership with these two sailors because we share the same enthusiasm and passion for wonderful nautical adventures.
The competitors will push themselves to the limit, getting back to the true basics of navigation and achieving an incredible and timeless feat!
- NV OUTDOOR -NVequipment is joining the adventure by assisting these two sailors with the preparation of their boats. The NV hoods and products with which they are fitted are similar to those sold to our pleasure sailors, apart from the geometry of the product and a few adaptations which have been made. For example, side handles have been added for safety and ease of movement on the boat, as well as wide windows to offer maximum visibility.
protections in the race
Aesthetics have not been the primary concern; these products have been designed with more emphasis on safety and modularity, making them as suitable as possible for this type of sailing.
- TO BE CONTINUED... -
The next stage will be making the first trips out to sea, allowing them to get to know the boat and its new equipment and to find out if any necessary adjustments need to be made. A few crossings to Great Britain are planned.
We will be sure to keep you posted on the latest developments!
